Watch: ‘Pumped up’ Micah Parsons beats a sumo wrestler in Tokyo as CJ Stroud hypes him up
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Dallas Cowboys fans must be wondering what Micah Parsons has been up to in the past couple of days. The All-Pro pass rusher was in Japan, continuing his offshore training regime and preparing for the OTAs.

Parsons wasn’t alone. He was accompanied by his new best friend, CJ Stroud. Together, the two NFL players traveled to the land of the rising sun in search of strength conditioning training.

On Saturday, Bleacher Report shared several photos on social media that gave a sneak peek at Micah Parsons‘ activities. The three-time Pro Bowler showed up at a wrestling dojo with Stroud and faced off against him in a one-on-one bout.

It’s unclear whether they actually went through with it. Then a video surfaced, proving that Parsons did indeed wrestle, but not against Stroud, but with a pro-sumo wrestler.

His first attempt to beat a perhaps seasoned athlete was a dud. His opponent easily out-muscled the 24-year-old.

Micah Parsons turned the tables on the Sumo wrestler

It’s no secret that the Penn State graduate is a competitor. He will not back down until there’s victory written at the end of it. After failing to overpower during his first attempt, he went for another try.

Parsons appeared a lot more relaxed and composed on this occasion. It appeared as if he was gauging the wrestler on the previous try, assessing his strength. He used far more shoulder and front leg strength to push back as he tried to get hold of the Mawashi (traditional Sumo attire).

With a slightly improved strategy, Parsons was able to thrust the Sumo wrestler out of the ring. It was W for the Dallas Cowboys edge rusher. Once again, he proved that he plays to win.

One thing you won’t do is disrespect the lion and think I’m not finna lock in! Micah Parsons retweeted the video with the caption

Parsons always finds interesting ways to work out during the offseason. However, the Cowboys’ front office must be sweating bullets seeing him take on a Sumo almost twice his body weight.

In the meantime, Stroud shared a video on Instagram of him watching a Tokyo Giants play at the famous Tokyo Dome.

The pair even exchanged a few throws before the start of the game. Afterward, they lined up side by side to take the first pitch. While Stroud’s throw reached the catcher perfectly, Parsons’ fell just short.

I am better than Micah [laughs]. I threw it, and he said, 'That's tough,' I put the pressure on him. Stroud said

Parsons tried to chime in with an excuse.

He was further back than the pitcher, man. It was illegitimate... You gotta look at the mound, man. His not even over the plate. Parsons complained

Before that, Parsons and Stroud also visited Shanghai and Beijing, where they had fun working as ambassadors for spreading football in China. The 2023 OPOY can be seen teaching the local kids how to pass the ball and a few fake overs.

The OTAs are just around the corner. Both the Cowboys and the Texans are in a good position to do well in the 2024 season. However, Parsons would be hoping he bags a sweet salary hike before his contract ends after this campaign.
